Joliet Central, Joliet West holding preview nights on Dec. 1

Events are for incoming fresmen and their parents.

Joliet students in eighth grade and their families can learn more about Joliet Central and Joliet West high schools on Dec. 1.

Topics covered include registration, testing, athletics and activities, according to a news release from Joliet Township High School District 204.

The Steelmen Academy Showcase for incoming freshmen will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Joliet Central High School, 201 E. Jefferson Street in Joliet. The Welcome Center in the Student Galleria opens at 6 p.m.

During the showcase, parents and students can tour the school and speak with current students, teachers, and counselors about elective courses, athletics, and activities. Other features include student performances and entertainment by Central’s music programs.

Joliet West’s 8th Grade Preview Night for incoming freshmen and their parents will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Joliet West High School, 401 N. Larkin Ave. in Joliet. The event begins in the field house with an overview of athletics and activity offering.

Students and parents can then attend four programs based on interest. Tours of the school will follow. To select programs, visit jths.org/joliet-west-high-school and click on “Eighth Grade Preview Night for Incoming Freshmen.”
