New member appointed to fill Joliet School District 86 Board vacancy

Joliet resident Elvis Madison Jr. was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Joliet Public Schools District 86 Board of Inspectors.

Madison attended Woodland Elementary and is a graduate of Washington Junior High School and Joliet Central High School, according to a news release. He received his bachelor’s degree in history from Trinity Christian College and a master’s degree in secondary education from Lewis University.

He works as a social studies teacher at Thornton Township High School.

Other new members Matthew Pritz and Gwendolyn Ulmer also recently joined the board which oversees a district with more than 10,000 students across 20 schools and more than 1,400 workers, including nearly 800 teachers.

Tonya Roberts will serve as the board’s president and Erick Deshawn Dorris as vice president for the next year.
