Wounded driver crashes SUV after shooting near Louis Joliet Mall: cops

emergency lights

A woman was shot while driving near the Louis Joliet Mall Saturday afternoon, then careened into another vehicle that crashed into a third automobile, police said.

The 19-year-old woman was driving near the intersection of Ring Road and Tonti Drive shortly before 3:30 p.m. when an occupant of another car shot her, according to a statement released by the Joliet Police Department.

The woman lost control of the SUV she was driving and crashed into another vehicle, police said.

“This collision then caused the uninvolved vehicle to strike an additional vehicle unrelated to the incident,” according to police.

The wounded woman was taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center, police said, where she was treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
