Woman shot in shoulder while sitting in living room

The woman was in living room of near west side when shot Monday morning

A woman was shot in the shoulder as she sat in the living room of her Campbell Street home, police said.

Officers responded to the residence on Campbell near Clement shortly before 9 p.m. Monday and found the wounded 40-year-old woman, said Joliet police Sgt. Dwayne English.

“A preliminary investigation determined that gunshots were heard from outside and the victim was struck while sitting in her living room,” English said.

Paramedics from the Joliet Fire Department responded to the scene, Joliet Fire Chief Greg Blaskey said. The woman was in fair condition and she was taken to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, he said.
