Man jailed in connection with Romeoville slaying

Adrian Bailey

A Joliet man was jailed Saturday in connection with the shooting death of a man found mortally wounded in the passenger seat of a car.

Adrian Bailey, 20, was arrested by the Romeoville police on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm without an owner’s identification card and involuntary manslaughter, records show.

Romeoville Police Chief Ken Kroll confirmed Bailey was arrested in connection with death of 24-year-old Romeoville resident Dennis Lee.

The wounded Lee was found sitting in a car parked on Autumn Woods Lane near Weslake Park Wednesday night, according to police. He was taken to AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook where he died.

No further information on the circumstances of the shooting was provided Saturday.

Bailey is in the midst of fighting to get back $2,134 seized by police in May.

Prosecutors filed a forfeiture complaint alleging the money was “criminally derived” in connection with a Paycheck Protection Program scam.

Bailey, on the other hand, claimed the money was given to him by his mother, Konika Morrow, for “expenses and other obligations.”

Bailey’s bond was previously set at $500,000, records show. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon.
