Will County Sheriff’s Office announces new smartphone app

App provides users numerous features to file reports, find information

The Will County Sheriff’s Office has a mobile app available for a free download on iPhone and Android app stores.

The smartphone app brings “all citizens a more complete and informative way to find whatever your needs may be regarding the sheriff’s office and the adult detention facility,” sheriff officials said in a news release.

“The app gives availability to receive emergency alerts, notifications, press releases and several other resources to enhance public safety matters,” officials said.

Users can submit crime tips directly to the sheriff’s office while remaining anonymous, search active warrants and use an interactive map feature to locate sex offenders, officials said.

Users can also use the app to information about the Will County jail, to submit Freedom of Information Act requests, traffic complaints and also request extra patrols and house watch, officials said.

“The sheriff’s office was also happy to team up with our app to include the Will County Courthouse and Circuit Clerks Office to fulfill citizens’ needs regarding these branches of government,” officials said.

The app allows for looking up information on court cases and making payments in traffic, criminal, civil, ordinance and child support cases.

In a statement, Will County Sheriff Mike Kelley said his commitment to all residents is finding ways to “communicate effectively with our citizens and to improve public safety.”

“Not only does this app check both of those boxes, it also provides a one-stop-shop for all things related to the sheriff’s office,” Kelley said.
