Joliet West tops Lincoln-Way Central at Lincoln-Way girls basketball tourney

Joliet West picked up its second girls basketball win in as many games with a 59-54 victory over Lincoln-Way Central at the Lincoln-Way Tournament on Thursday in New Lenox.

Lisa Thompson scored 21 points to lead the Tigers to 2-0 on the young season, Grace Walsh scored 18, and Destiny McNair chipped in with 12 points.

Lockport 74, Plainfield East 53: At Villa Park, the Porters took an early lead and held the line all the way home in a Willowbrook Invitational win.

Lexi Sepulveda led all scorers with 23 points for the Bengals, and Jocelyn Trotter scored 14.

Lincoln-Way West 46, Joliet Central 32: At New Lenox, Ava Gugliuzza led the Warriors with 23 points in a Lincoln-Way Tournament victory over the Steelmen.

Providence 67, Peotone 38: At Beecher, the Celtics improved to 2-0 with a runaway win over the Blue Devils at the Beecher Thanksgiving Tournament.

Gabi Bednar scored 15 points and Annalise Pietrzyk added 14 in the victory.

Coal City 40, Gardner-South Wilmington 15: At Braidwood, the Coalers coasted to a one-sided Reed-Custer Thanksgiving Tournament win over the Panthers.

Marquette 59, Dwight 22: At Seneca, the Trojans fell to 1-2 overall with a Seneca Thanksgiving Tournament loss.

Dwight’s Kassy Kodat had 10 points and eight rebounds.
