Will County students participating in ILMEA district festivals

Music students from Joliet Township High School District 204, Troy Middle School in Plainfield and all four high schools in Plainfield’s District 202 will perform in the Illinois Music Education Association’s festivals in November.

Troy Middle School students will participate in the District 1 Junior Music Festival at 3 p.m. Nov. 6 at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, according to a news release from Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C.

Selected band members are bassoonist Niko Martinez; clarinetists Natasha Barowsky, Malorie Berry and Leah Warren; flautists William Buchanan, Cara Konieczny and Claire Wellman; French horn player Leah Blunk; and percussionists Sofia Mancilla and Caleb Price.

Troy sopranos chosen were Cristhell Gonzalez-DeLeon, Emma Graf, Alesia Rivera, Sara Viamonte and Calloway Walsh. Altos were Charlotte Dean, Olivia Keene, Xierra Rapata and Joy Seyl. Bass singer was James Goodwin.

Troy band directors are William Goetz and Jennifer Carlton. Choir directors are Kelsey Robb and Dan Mulligan.

Twelve Joliet Township High School District 204 musicians will participate in the District I band, choir and orchestra Nov. 20 at Elmhurst University, according to a news release from District 204.

These students include: Phoebe Chellino, clarinet, band; Michael Del Rio, cello/orchestra; Payton Fraser, soprano II, chorus; Micah Gabriel, chorus/bass I; Kaitlyn Gibson, alto II, Chorus; Lucas Hobbs, double bass, orchestra; Reid Hogan, tuba, orchestra; Joy Kipkiyeny, clarinet/band; Zinnia Manning, alto I, chorus; Derrick Neal, trombone, band; Kaitlyn Ruddy, Soprano I, chorus; and Elizabeth Wellman, trumpet, band.

Forty-six high school students at District 202 high school students will participate in jazz, choir, band and orchestra, according to a news release from District 202.

Students were selected for the District IX Senior Band/Chorus/Orchestra Festival on Nov. 13 at Dundee-Crown High School. Jazz choir and band students will perform in a festival Nov. 20 at Hampshire High School. The students will learn later this fall if they also have qualified to perform at the ILMEAAll-State Conference in Peoria in January.
