IHSA Class 3A state meet: Qualifying for Saturday’s state finals in Charleston were Lockport’s Sydney Cline in the 100-meter hurdles, Joliet West’s Ava Offerman in the pole vault, Minooka’s Natalie Nahs in the 800-meter run, Plainfield East’s Brislane Lankah in the 300 hurdles, Plainfield East’s 4x100 relay team of Camryn Cargo, Haley Anderson, Lankah and Briyah Beatty, Plainfield East’s 4x200 team of Cargo, Paris Conley, Anderson and Lankah, Plainfield East’s Londyn Hendry in the high jump, Lincoln-Way Central’s Mia Forystek in the 800 and 1,600, Lincoln-Way Central’s Kylie Koehler in the pole vault, Lincoln-Way Central’s 4x800 relay team of Katie Petrosky, Macie Gallagher, Keira Faxel and Ana Del Ponte, Lincoln-Way East’s Alaina Steele in the 400 dash, and the Lincoln-Way East 4x400 relay of Emmy Lekki, Nora Keane, Jillian Marshall and Steele,
IHSA Class 2A state meet: Qualifying for Saturday’s state finals was Joliet Catholic’s Symone Holman in the 100-meter dash.
SOFTBALL
Lincoln-Way Central 13, Minooka 11: At the Class 4A Lincoln-Way Central Regional, the 10th-seeded Knights pulled off the upset over the No. 4 Indians in the title game behind four hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs from Mia Degliomini, and held off a five-run rally by Minooka in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win. Audrey Hennings also had four hits for Central, while Addison Stehlik had four hits for Minooka and Olivia Boyd homered.
The Knights will play Lincoln-Way West on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Lincoln-Way West Sectional.
Lincoln-Way East 10, Andrew 5: At the Class 4A Lincoln-Way East Regional, Maddie Henry homered twice, and Cassidy Jagielski added a home run as the Griffins captured the championship. They will play Lockport on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Lincoln-Way West Sectional.
Lincoln-Way West 9, Homewood-Flossmoor 1: At the Class 4A Homewood-Flossmoor Regional, the Warriors got home runs from Kaylea Armstrong, Reese Forsythe, Paige Seivert and Hannah Borchers to capture the title. Abby Brueggmann was 3 for 3 with a double and struck out eight in a complete game.
Plainfield East 9, Wheaton North 3: At the Class 4A Oswego East Regional, the Bengals scored five in the first inning and never looked back in claiming the title. Kaleigh Cawthon was 4 for 4 with a double, while Jocelyn Cushard struck out nine in a complete game. East will play Yorkville on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Yorkville Sectional.
Oak Forest 6, Joliet Catholic 5: At the Class 3A Oak Forest Regional, the Angels lost a heartbreaker in the title game. Addy Rizzatto (double) and Callan Kinsella each had two hits for JCA.
Providence 20, Crete-Monee 1 (4 inn.): At the Class 3A Providence Regional, Ava Misch and Mia Sanfratello each had two hits for the Celtics in the title-game rout, while Macie Robbins struck out nine in a one-hitter. Providence will play Oak Forest on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Providence Sectional.
Seneca 9, Bishop McNamara 2: At the Class 2A Seneca Regional, Hayden Pfeifer struck out 14 in a four-hitter to lift the Irish to the title. Pfeifer helped her own cause with a triple and a home run, while Lexie Buis added a homer and two RBIs. Seneca will play Tuesday at 4:30 in the Pontiac Sectional against the winner of Saturday’s Prairie Central Regional winner.
BASEBALL
Joliet Catholic 10, Geneseo 0: Evan Wills got the win on the mound for the Hilltoppers, with Jack Spain throwing a scoreless relief inning. The duo combined to strike out 10 and allow three hits. Derrick Pomatto was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, while Josh Perez added two hits.
Plainfield North 8, Manteno 5: Mason Laube had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs to lead the Tigers to the nonconference win. Laube also got the win on the mound, striking out four in four innings.
Lincoln-Way West 4, Willowbrook 1: Owen Weber highlighted the offense for the Warriors with a two-run double, while Jackson Heinlen, Emmett Carlson and Owen Chudzinski combined to throw a five-hitter.
GIRLS SOCCER
Lincoln-Way East 2, Andrew 1: At the Class 3A Lincoln-Way East Regional, the Griffins won their sixth straight regional championship on penalty kicks and advanced to play Sandburg at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Andrew Sectional.
Lincoln-Way Central 2, Homewood-Flossmoor 0: At the Class 3A Lincoln-Way Central Regional. the Knights won the title and advanced to take on Lincoln-Way West on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Andrew Sectional.
Lincoln-Way West 6, Lockport 2: At the Class 3A Lockport Regional, the Warriors won the title and advanced to take on Lincoln-Way Central on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the Andrew Sectional.
East Moline United 2, Minooka 1: At the Class 3A Minooka Regional, the Indians saw their season come to an end with the loss.
Peoria Notre Dame 7, Joliet West 0: At the Class 3A Moline Regional, the Tigers’ season came to an end with the loss.
Providence 2, Kankakee 1: At the Class 2A Kankakee Regional, the Celtics won the title and advanced to take on Tinley Park at 4:30 on Tuesday in the Providence Sectional.
Lemont 8, Evergreen Park 0: At the Class 2A Lemont Regional, Lemont won the championship and advanced to take on the winner of Saturday’s Mother McAuley Regional on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the Providence Regional.
Plainfield Central 2, Batavia 0: At the Class 2A Burlington Central Sectional, the Wildcats won the championship and advanced to take on Sycamore on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Orion Sectional.
Herscher 3, Reed-Custer 1: At the Class 1A Reed-Custer Regional, the Comets’ season came to an end with the loss.
BOYS TENNIS
Class 1A La Salle-Peru Sectional: Morris’ Connor Barth won his third straight sectional title at singles, while teammate Andrew Ochoa took fourth.
Class 1A Joliet Catholic Sectional: Providence’s Jesse Tyler took second at singles, while Lemont’s Parker Hsu was third and Owen Hsu fourth. In doubles, JCA’s Declan Wagner and Frank Schuler took second, Lemont’s Jacob DiPirro and Ryan Sochowski were third, and Lemont’s Josh Alcantara and Zach Kosanovich were fourth.
