Letter: Watchful folks in Sterling quick to help

Sauk Valley Letters to the Editor

According to Wikipedia, “It takes a village to raise a child” is an African proverb that means an entire community of people must interact with children for those children to grow in a safe and healthy environment.

This was evident to me on Saturday afternoon as my 2 1/2 year old grandson escaped onto the street while at the football games in Sterling.

Several ”village ladies” came to his rescue! For them I am grateful! Their kindness was overwhelming!

We certainly are fortunate to live in communities where we help each other. Sterling, you have much to be proud! Thank you to all who helped!
