Bustos makes presentation to federal corrections officer

U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos made a presentation on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022, of the Congressional Record recognizing Jonathan Zumkehr of Thomson Prison as American Federation of Government Employees’ as its law enforcement officer of the year. Bustos, representing the 17th District, worked with other members of the state delegation to secure direct hiring authority for the federal prison at Thomson as well as other benefits for correctional officers. During a tour of the district, Bustos also visited the Rock Island Lock and Dam, where she took part in a ceremony marking the construction of new miter gate anchorage bars, and the Clock Tower Building at the Rock Island Arsenal. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has allocated $829 million through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for the modernization of the state’s locks and dams.
