Beautify Dixon group launches neighborhood recognition program

DIXON - Those who take pride in their home front could be recognized by a new beautification group.

The Dixon Chamber of Commerce and Main Street formed a Preservation and Beautification Committee, which is launching the Beautify Dixon Recognition Program to promote improving aesthetics and recognize exemplary properties that demonstrate above-average efforts in maintaining their property and contributing to the overall appearance of the community at large.

From June through October, a home will be selected from each of the quadrants of town - southeast, northeast, southwest, and northwest.

Residents can nominate neighbors who spend time sprucing up their yard and making exterior home improvements, and the committee will present the monthly winners with a certificate of appreciation, a yard sign to display for the month and their picture on social media.

All residential properties within the city limits are eligible.

Judging factors include overall appearance, tidiness, and neatness of the front and side of the property with visually eye-catching curb appeal through the use of color and texture.

Email info@dixonnow.com, send a private message to @discoverdixon on Facebook or Instagram, or call DCCMS at 815-284-3361 to make a nomination.

“We have so many lovely properties in our city; let’s recognize them for their contribution to keeping our city beautiful and making their property an asset to our community,” the organization said in a news release.
