Mount Carroll police ID body of man found in wooded area

MOUNT CARROLL – Police have learned whose body was found Monday afternoon in a wooded area, but are withholding public identification or further details until his family is notified, Mount Carroll Police officer Courtney Grinnall said in an email this evening.

An autopsy was to have been conducted Wednesday, not only to aid in cause of death but also to help with the identification, police said in a news release Tuesday.

The body was found around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of state Route 78 and U.S. Route 52.
