Whiteside deputy shot; wound not life-threatening, sheriff says

MORRISON – An unidentified Whiteside County sheriff’s deputy was shot and injured this morning in the area of Hillside and Fulfs roads near Union Grove while trying to find two suspects who fled on foot following a vehicle pursuit, Sheriff John Booker said in a news release.

The deputy was in surgery this afternoon and is expected to make a full recovery, the release said.

The two suspects are in custody. They also were not named in the release.
