18-year-old Sterling man shot, recovering; suspect, also 18, being questioned

STERLING – Sterling police are questioning an 18-year-old man in connection with the shooting of another 18-year-old around 2:45 this morning in the front yard of a home in the 200 block of 12th Avenue.

According to the preliminary investigation, the man was shot in the abdomen after some sort of fight between the two, Sgt. Pat Bartel said.

The wounded man was treated and released, Bartel said.

Both are from Sterling, but did not know each other, he said.

Names are not yet being released, and no charges were filed as of 10 this morning; more information will be released as the investigation progresses.
