Sauk Valley counties surpass 20% vaccinated mark, report 75 COVID-19 cases Monday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 75 new coronavirus cases Monday, and counties have surpassed the 20% fully vaccinated mark.

Whiteside County had 25 new cases, with five younger than 20, five in their 20s, three in their 30s, three in their 40s, two in their 50s, five in their 60s, and two in their 70s, for a total of 6,750 cases, 160 deaths and 5,972 recoveries.

Lee County had 44 new cases since Saturday, with three 12 or younger, seven teens, five in their 20s, four in their 30s, seven in their 40s, seven in their 50s, five in their 60s, and three in their 80s, and now totals 3,625 cases and 67 deaths.

Carroll County had six cases, and now totals 1,606 cases and 36 deaths.

Whiteside County has administered 27,721 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 11,843 people (21.29%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 17,090 doses, with 7,017 people (20.5%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 6,376 vaccine doses, with 2,888 people (20.18%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 25,583 doses, with 10,236 people (20.1%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate below 8% for 87 days. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 5.9%.

Currently, 20% of ICU beds are available.

Lee County’s rate decreased to 1.3%, and Whiteside County’s decreased to 7.9%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,433 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 18 additional deaths Monday, and a total of 7,243,383 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate increased from 4.2% to 4.4%. The state has seen 1,282,205 total cases of the virus, and 21,523 people have died. The state has conducted a total of 21,225,122 tests since the start of the pandemic.

As of late Sunday, Illinois had 1,998 COVID-19 patients in the hospital, the most since February 9. Of those, 418 were in intensive care units, and 177 were on ventilators.
