Sauk Valley reports 17 COVID-19 cases Monday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 17 new coronavirus cases Monday.

Whiteside County had three new cases in their 50s, 60s and 70s as well as 29 recoveries totaling 5,997 cases, 147 deaths and 5,772 recoveries.

Lee County had nine new cases with two teens, four in their 50s, and three in their 20s, 50s and 60s. There were also 20 new recoveries totaling 3,083 cases and 60 deaths.

Carroll County, which does not provide a daily age breakdown, reports five new cases.

Whiteside County has had 11,130 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 3,785 people (6.8%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 7,443 doses, with 2,562 people (7.49%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 2,463 vaccine doses, with 694 people (4.85%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 10,249 doses, with 2,916 people (5.73%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, and Winnebago counties) has maintained a positivity rate under 8% for 45 days. The region’s positivity rate increased to 2.2%. Currently, 26% of ICU beds are available.

The region has seen 78 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Lee County’s positivity rate stayed flat at 0.5%, and Whiteside County’s increased to 3.4%. Carroll County’s is 4.2 %, Ogle’s is 2.6%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 1,143 cases and 20 deaths Monday totaling 1,187,839 cases with 20,536 deaths.
