Sauk Valley reports 17 COVID-19 cases Friday

Coronavirus cases in the Sauk Valley

The Sauk Valley reported 17 new coronavirus cases Friday.

Lee County had nine new cases with one younger than 12, two teens, three in their 50s and three in their 30s, 60s and 70s. There were also 13 new recoveries totaling 3,074 cases and 60 deaths.

Carroll County had eight new cases totaling 1,314 cases and 35 deaths.

Whiteside County has had 10,199 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 3,185 people (5.73%) fully vaccinated. Lee County has had 6,910 doses, with 2,143 people (6.26%) fully vaccinated. Carroll County has administered 2,298 vaccine doses, with 578 people (4.04%) fully vaccinated. Ogle County has had 9,587 doses, with 2,414 people (4.74%) fully vaccinated.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen 42 consecutive days below the 8% positivity rate. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 2.4%. Currently, 25% of ICU beds are available.

The region has been above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability for 74 consecutive days.

Lee County’s rate decreased to 0.6%, and Whiteside County’s rate stayed flat at 3.7%.

Hospitalizations have decreased eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

Illinois announced 2,441 cases and 55 deaths Friday totaling 1,183,667 cases, including 20,460 deaths.
