Morrison library group starts fundraiser for new floor

MORRISON – Odell Public Library Friends has started on an $80,000 fundraising campaign to replace 8,300 square feet of flooring.

The campaign has been seeded by a $5,000 donation by the group. Another donor, who wishes to be anonymous, has pledged a $10,000 matching grant.

The library’s existing flooring was installed 26 years ago. The project’s goal should be sufficient to cover purchase of new flooring materials, removal of the existing flooring, installation and the cost of moving and storing books and shelving during the improvements.

The campaign has established a crowd-funding account: gofundme.com/f/fund-our-floor. Donations also can be sent to Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison St., Morrison, IL 61270. Make checks payable to Odell Public Library.

Donors of $500 or more will be recognized with a permanent plaque in the library and are designated by well-known authors and playwrights: Dr. Seuss for $500, Mark Twain for $1,000, Louisa May Alcott for $2,500, Ernest Hemingway at $5,000 and William Shakespeare at $10,000.
