Savanna representative sponsoring supply drive for children’s advocacy centers

STERLING – State Rep. Tony McCombie, R-Savanna, is sponsoring a supply drive for April House in Morrison and other children’s advocacy centers.

Donors can go to repmccombie.com/supply-drive-wishlists/ for a list of needed supplies.

Supplies bought locally or online can be be delivered to McCombie’s office, 2510 Locust St., Suite A, Sterling, IL 61081. McCombie will deliver them to centers serving Whiteside, Carroll, Rock Island, Henry, and Jo Daviess counties in early December.

Such centers interview children involved in allegations of child sexual abuse or severe physical abuse and help children and family members receive advocacy, medical and mental health referrals.

“Often, members of our community have no reason to know about the work of our children’s advocacy centers, but the work they do is critical when responding to children who have been abused,” McCombie said in a news release.
