Putnam County Community Center is offering Medicare enrollment assistance

Jan. 1 to March 31 is the general enrollment period for Medicare Part A and/or Part B.

You can sign up if both of these apply: You didn’t sign up when you were first eligible and you aren’t eligible for a special enrollment period. You must pay premiums for Part A and/or Part B and your coverage will begin July 1. You may have to pay a higher premium for late enrollment in Part A and/or a higher premium for late enrollment in Part B.

Medicare savings programs can provide assistance with paying for Medicare premiums if you meet certain conditions. Please call the Putnam County Community Center at 815-339-2711 for more information and/or assistance with applying for MSP.

Jan. 1 to March 31 is also a special enrollment period for those with Medicare Advantage Plans. You can switch from your Medicare Advantage Plan to another MA Plan, or to Original Medicare with or without a Part D plan, during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period. You can only use this period if you have a Medicare Advantage Plan.

The PCCC is a certified Senior Health Insurance Program site with unbiased Medicare counselors available to help Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
