With a six-run first inning, the Fulton baseball team had enough cushion to hold off a Forreston comeback Saturday in the Class 1A Amboy Regional championship game.

Byron scored in all but one inning, and Andrew Talbert allowed just four baserunners in a one-hitter in a 10-0, five-inning win over Oregon in Saturday's Class 2A Stillman Valley Regional championship.

East Dubuque scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to edge the Cardinals 4-3 and win the 1A Forreston Sectional on Saturday, May 25, 2024. The Cardinals scored two runs in he bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead going into the final inning. East Dubuque moves on to the supersectional in Rockford on Monday.

Carson Akins had two hits and four RBIs to lead the Forreston Cardinals to a 10-4 win over Lena-Winslow in the 1A Forreston Sectional semifinal. Kendall Erdmann and Alex Schoonhoven drove in a pair for Forreston (24-8-1). The Cardinals will face East Dubuque for the sectional title on Saturday. Game time is 11 a.m.
