Don’t miss Jazz and Blues diva Lynne Jordan, as she kicks off Raue Center’s new summer outdoor entertainment series on July 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. Arts on the Green, which will feature a terrific variety of musical performances and two evenings with Shakespeare over the course of the next few months, will take place at Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church, located at 210 McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake. Bring a blanket, pack a picnic, and come enjoy the fun!
Invoking the spirit of Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, and other legendary ladies of the Blues, Lynne Jordan proves she’s a Chicagoland treasure. “Lynne Jordan is an outstanding entertainer, delivering Blues, ballads, and R&B with soulfulness and flair,” said Bruce Iglauer, owner and founder of Alligator Records. “She can win over any audience with her larger-than-life personality and good humor.”
A favorite at the House of Blues, Jordan is a Chicago institution who brings her special brand of storytelling, raw humor, and musical performance to audiences worldwide. “Some performers go so deep inside you can hardly see them, but you sure can feel it,” said Corky Siegel, an internationally known Blues pianist and singer/songwriter. “Some performers roll themselves up into a ball and shoot themselves out of a cannon and plaster you against the back wall. Some performers make you laugh out loud and others make you cry tears of joy. Others are just perfect and can do anything; welcome to the world of the ‘bodacious diva’, Lynne Jordan.”
Jordan’s soaring vocals dip effortlessly into Blues, Jazz, Funk, and Rock. Her talent so dazzled the Second City that the late Chicago film critic Roger Ebert declared her his “favorite diva”!
