The cause of death for a McHenry County Jail detainee who died in April was released Friday evening by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
A final autopsy revealed the cause of Andrew Ladd’s death was suicide, according to a news release.
Ladd, 42, of Crystal Lake, was found dead in his cell at the McHenry County Jail in April.
Correctional officers and first responders from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District attempted lifesaving measures but were unsuccessful, according to the release.
Ladd had been detained at the jail since Feb. 22 on charges of possession of child pornography and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court records show Ladd was convicted of reckless homicide in 2001 in connection with a drunken-driving crash that killed a pedestrian, Reyes Soto Sanchez.
