72-year-old Wisconsin man identified as victim in Fox Lake crash

Five-vehicle crash Saturday led to one fatality, who was identified by authorities Monday as Stephen Kamen

Authorities on Monday identified a 72-year-old man from Wisconsin as the person killed Saturday in a five-vehicle crash in Fox Lake.

Stephen Kamen, of Fontana-on-Geneva-Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 6 p.m. near Route 12 and Big Hollow Road, officials said.

Fox Lake police said that a driver headed south on Route 12 in a silver Infiniti tried to turn right onto Big Hollow Road. The vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, hitting four vehicles, including Kamen’s, waiting at the red light.

A passenger from Kamen’s vehicle, a silver GMC SUV, was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. The occupants of the other four vehicles were treated and released at the scene.

The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is assisting the Fox Lake Police Department with the investigation of the crash.
