Hanover Park man accused of possessing 33 ecstasy pills among other drugs, court records show

A traffic stop on Tuesday in McHenry County led to the arrests of an 18-year-old Hanover Park man and a 19-year-old St. Charles man, one of whom is accused of possessing marijuana, ecstasy and other pills.

Anthony J. Sierra, of the 6200 block of Kit Carson Drive, Hanover Park, remained at the McHenry County Jail Thursday afternoon. Sierra is charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy, possession of ecstasy, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver 30 to 500 grams of marijuana, and possession of 30 to 100 grams of marijuana.

Another man, Joshua Perreault, of the 1600 block of Oak Street, St. Charles, also was arrested. Perreault is charged with a single count of possession of a controlled substance and has since been released from the county jail without posting a cash bond.

Sierra would need to post $7,500 bail to secure his release, records show.

The situation began with a traffic stop conducted by a McHenry County sheriff’s deputy Tuesday, court records show. A third man who was with Sierra and Perreault at the time was issued a traffic citation.

According to a criminal complaint filed in McHenry County court, Sierra is accused of possessing 33 ecstasy pills; 55 grams of marijuana; 82 grams of alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax; and an undisclosed amount of hydrocodone.

Perreault is accused of possessing 15 grams of alprazolam, according to a separate criminal complaint.

The most serious charge against Sierra, possession with intent to deliver ecstasy, is a Class X felony typically punishable by as many as 30 years in prison.

Perreault could face as many as three years in prison if convicted of possession of a controlled substance. The charge also is punishable by probation.

Neither man had hired an attorney as of Thursday afternoon, court records show.

Perreault is due back in court on May 26. Sierra is scheduled for a court appearance on Friday morning.
