Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week: Huntley’s Hayes Porsche

Huntley forward Hayes Porsche hasn’t stopped scoring since being called up to varsity last spring.

So far this season, the talented Red Raiders senior has knocked in 17 goals in 17 games and has his team within striking distance of the Fox Valley Conference boys soccer championship.

The Raiders can win the FVC title outright with a win over Crystal Lake South on Tuesday, and Porsche is cooking at the right time with six goals in his past four games.

Porsche was voted as the Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week by readers and recently talked to sports writer Alex Kantecki about the best way to celebrate a goal, the most difficult part about soccer, what he likes to eat before a big game and more.

If you could change something about soccer, what would it be?

Porsche: I wouldn’t change the game of soccer, I love it the way it is. The game pushes you mentally. It is a fast-paced game of skill, strategy and teamwork. You need to be able to see the entire field at all times and know what your next move is going to be.

What would be the best way to celebrate a goal?

What is the toughest injury you’ve ever suffered?
