Meet the 2022 Northwest Herald All-Area boys soccer team.

Crystal Lake South coach Brian Allen helped his team overcome a large loss of players from last season's team to lead the Gators to their fifth straight regional title and another Fox Valley Conference crown. He is the Northwest Herald's 2022 Boys Soccer Coach of the Year.

Crystal Lake South's Nolan Getzinger stepped up whenever the Gators needed him, which is why he was named the Northwest Herald's 2022 Boys Soccer Player of the Year after scoring 22 goals and adding eight assists this fall.

A number of McHenry County-area boys soccer players earned honors from the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association (IHSSCA) after this season.

McIntosh scored twice to lift the Golden Eagles to a 3-0 win against Streamwood in the Class 3A Jacobs Regional championship game, the team’s first regional title since 2019. McIntosh was voted the Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week by readers.
