The IHSA boys and girls golf state tournaments tee off Friday morning, with a handful of McHenry County area golfers competing at courses in Bloomington, Normal and Decatur.

Crystal Lake Central co-op's Rylee Rud advanced to state for the first time in a playoff, while Marian Central's Jordan Cheng and Luca Kittel also advanced to this weekend's state tournaments.

Burlington Central's boys golf team finished fourth in the Class 3A Buffalo Grove Sectional on Monday, just missing advancing downstate for the third year in a row. Central senior Tyler Samaan tied for third place to advance.

Prairie Ridge took third as a team, while Crystal Lake Central qualified two individuals – Asher Johnson and Tommy Laird – for state during Monday's IHSA Class 2A Rockford Boylan Sectional at the Mauh-Nah-Tee-See Club in Rockford.

Burlington Central senior Tyler Samaan shot a 6-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors and lead the Rockets to the championship of the Class 3A Huntley Boys Golf Regional on Wednesday at Pinecrest Golf Club in Huntley.

Crystal Lake Central's boys golf team won its second straight regional title, while Ian Metzger earned medalist honors to lead Rochelle to its first sectional since 2009. Prairie Ridge placed runner-up in the nine-team regional to also advance.
