Area roundup: Short-handed Hall girls top Bureau Valley

Jaclyn Cinotte made 11-of-13 free throws and finished with 17 points Saturday to lead the Hall girls basketball team to a 47-38 victory over Bureau Valley in a Three Rivers Conference game in Manlius.

Kylie Craig and Mia Mautino each scored eight points for the short-handed Lady Red Devils, who had only six players available.

Hall made 19-of-22 free throws as a team.

Serena 53, Putnam County 48

Sophia Harris scored 22 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out a pair of assists Saturday as the Lady Panthers came up short in a non-conference game.

Chloe Linton scored a career-high 16 points for PC while also hauling in seven rebounds.

Plano 39, Earlville 36

The Lady Red Raiders led 30-25 after three quarters but were outscored 14-6 in the final eight minutes in a non-conference loss Saturday in Plano.

Alexis Olson led Earlville with 11 points, while Madyson Olson contributed nine points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Earlville 64, DePue 54

Ryan Browder scored 12 points Saturday to help the Red Raiders to a Little Ten Conference victory in DePue.

Diego Vazquez and Noah Lemke added 10 points each for Earlville (5-5, 5-4 LTC), which outscored DePue 24-11 in the second quarter to take a 36-25 halftime lead.

The Red Raiders extended their lead to 52-38 in the second half before the Little Giants rallied within four with two minutes left.

Hunter Tyson led DePue with 17 points, Jorge Escobar had 13 points and Koby Hayes added 11 points.

CHEERLEADING

At Washington

La Salle-Peru scored 85.6 points Saturday at the Washington Sectional to finish eighth among Medium teams at the Washington Sectional.

The top five teams advanced to state. Morris won with a 94.69. L-P finished 3.47 points behind Peoria, which earned the fifth and final state berth.
