A Chicago man was cited after police said he didn’t stop at a stop sign, leading to a two-vehicle crash last week at Route 71 and East 2153rd Road in Rutland Township.

According to La Salle County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Pharoah Walton, 42, of Chicago, was eastbound 1:16 p.m. April 28 on East 2153rd Road and failed to stop at the stop sign with Route 71. Walton’s vehicle struck a northbound vehicle on Route 71 driver by Tyler Hartje, 33, of Elburn, deputies said.

Hartje was treated and released by Sheridan EMS and Walton was taken to OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa by Marseilles EMS.

Walton was cited on the complaint of disobeying a stop sign.
