LA GRANGE PARK – Nazareth Academy has announced the return of the school’s Parent Speaker Series, including a newly added in-person program.

Nazareth will host several events with speakers known for their work with families and adolescents, who will address topics that are both relevant and practical, a news release stated. All presentations are in keeping with Nazareth’s 2021-22 school theme, β€œGrowing in Resilience and Hope … That All May Be One.”

β€œThis year’s school theme was developed intentionally – for this specific moment in our school and our nation’s history,” Nazareth Academy Principal Therese Hawkins said in the release. β€œAs parents and educators, it is more important than ever that we are equipped to help develop and teach resilience to our children, and we hope that this year’s Parent Speaker Series will offer practical tools and strategies for parents as they continue navigating these difficult times with their children.”

The sessions will remain open to the entire community, and will be conducted via Zoom. An in-person event has been added to the lineup.

β€œLast year, we conducted our parent workshops on Zoom, and attendance was great,” Hawkins said. β€œIn fact, many parents preferred that we hold the workshops on Zoom as this format made it easier to attend.”

All presentations are free and most are open to the public. Participants must register in advance at nazarethacademy.com under the Student/Parent tab.

The next Zoom presentation begins at 7 p.m. March 8, titled β€œHow to Help the Pandemic Generation Thrive Now and Later.” The presenter is Michele Borba.

The newly announced program will begin at 7 p.m. March 30, and will be offered in person. The program, β€œSAFER Choices for My Child in a Sexualized World,” will be presented by Mike Domitrz, Center for Respect.
