Three teenagers from Hazel Crest were charged with breaking into several cars Wednesday night in Elmhurst, authorities said.

Each of the teenagers -- ages 13, 15 and 17 -- was charged with one count of felony burglary to a motor vehicle and two counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass to a motor vehicle, according to a news release Thursday from the DuPage County state’s attorney.

The 13-year-old was also charged with one count of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, which is a felony, the news release said.

The Elmhurst police responded to a call about several people pulling on car doors to try to open them around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The police located the three teenagers, who are alleged to have gained entry to three vehicles and burglarized one, and took them into custody. The 13-year-old also had a 9 mm pistol with one bullet in the chamber, the news release said.

The 15-year-old’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 20. The 13-year-old’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 21, and the 17-year-old’s next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 22.
