Glenbard Parent Series event to present roadmap to adulthood

"On Oct. 24, we became aware of graffiti in bathrooms that was a cause for concern and specified a date: Oct. 30," Glenbard Township High School District 87 spokeswoman Peg Mannion said in an email. "Glenbard South immediately notified the DuPage Sheriff’s office to maintain the safety of students, ascertain the identity of the person responsible and assess the credibility of the threat."


The Glenbard Parent Series: [GPS] Navigating Healthy Families will present How to Raise an Adult and a book launch of “Your Turn: How to Be an Adult” with bestselling author Julie Lythcott-Haims at 7 p.m. March 16.

Lythcott-Haims, author of “How to Raise an Adult,” will examine how to define success in today’s world. She will share inspirational and practical tips to tackle life’s most intimidating challenges, including how to achieve financial independence,cope with traumas and setbacks, and discover what gives each of us joy. Lythcott-Haimswill provide a roadmap to help guide children to becoming their own unique and confident best adult selves.

Lythcott-Haims is the former dean of freshmen at Stanford University and author of the bestseller”How to Raise an Adult: Break Free of the Overparenting Trap and Prepare Your Kid for Success,” which became one of the top TED Talks of the year. Her memoir on race, “Real American,” details her personal battle with the low self-esteem that racism routinely inflicts on people of color.
