DuPage County reports 151 COVID-19 cases Tuesday, 1 death, 12.76% of the population fully vaccinated

The DuPage County Health Department on Tuesday reported 151 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 1 death, a man in his 70s.

The county now has seen a total of 79,123 coronavirus cases including 1,276 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Feb. 23 was 98.2%.

DuPage County has administered 319,219 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 118,509 people, or 12.76% of the population, have been fully vaccinated.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 55 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 3.8%. Currently, 32% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 93 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 3.8% and DuPage County increased to 3.8%.

Hospitalizations have decreased or remained stable for eight out of the past 10 days in this region.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,997 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 19 additional deaths Tuesday, and a total of 4,181,097 COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.

The state administered 78,287 vaccine doses on Monday.

By town, Wheaton has had 4,198 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,978, Lombard 4,043, Villa Park 2,415, Hinsdale 1,343, Westmont 1,998, Darien 1,693, Woodridge 2,510, Downers Grove 4,072, Elmhurst 4,063, Warrenville 1,229 and Winfield 1,028. Addison has had 4,623 confirmed cases, Naperville 7,354, Carol Stream 4,173 and West Chicago 4,196.
