DuPage County reports 458 COVID-19 cases Sunday, 2 deaths

The DuPage County Health Department on Sunday reported 458 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in the county, with 2 deaths: 1 man in his 70s and 1 female in her 90s.

The county now has seen a total of 60,630 coronavirus cases including 976 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of Dec. 29 was 97.8%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 11 consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 9.8%. Currently, 20.9% of medical/surgical beds are available and 25.6% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and one day over the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Hospitalizations have decreased 9 out of the past 10 days in this region.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 12%, and DuPage County is at 8.8%.

Finally, within the DuPage/Kane region, there are 82 available, staffed ICU beds out of 324 total and 367 ventilators available out of 579.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 4,469 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 81 additional deaths Sunday.

The seven-day rolling average of Illinois’ positivity rate remained the same at 8.3%.

By town, Wheaton has had 3,237 total cases, Glen Ellyn 2,273, Lombard 3,108, Villa Park 1,882, Hinsdale 941, Westmont 1,514, Darien 1,229, Woodridge 1,912, Downers Grove 2,793, Elmhurst 3,095, Warrenville 974 and Winfield 788. Addison has had 3,806 confirmed cases, Naperville 5,172, Carol Stream 3,308 and West Chicago 3,379.
