Plano resident injured, cited in crash on Rt. 47 at Kennedy Road

A Plano resident was injured in a two vehicle crash at 6:59 p.m. Oct. 5 on Route 47 at Kennedy Road in Yorkville, according to Yorkville police.

In a statement, police said the crash occurred when the Plano resident, identified by police as Molly Thornton 31, of the 2000 block of Sarah Court, was driving southbound on Route 47 and attempted to turn left to proceed eastbound on Kennedy Road. While turning left, police said the front bumper of the Thornton’s 2020 Jeep Compass struck the front bumper of a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic being driven by a juvenile that was proceeding northbound on Route 47.

The crash resulted in heavy damage to both vehicles, which were towed from the scene, according to police.

Police said Thornton was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora for treatment of minor injuries while the juvenile was not injured in the crash.

Police said they ticketed the Plano resident for failure to yield turning left.
