Local motorcyclists escort Mideast Conflicts Wall of Honor

Several motorcyclists from Open Roads ABATE of IL Inc. joined in the escort of the Mideast Conflicts Wall of Honor on May 21.

The escort began at exit No. 1 in Rapids City, IL, traveled on Interstate 80, making several stops along the way to promote the wall, and ending at Oswego Village Hall.

The Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club, in conjunction with the village of Oswego, brought the Mideast Conflicts Wall of Honor to Oswego from May 21 to 31. The wall represents 7,200 fallen heroes from 2001 through 2018. Faces of the Fallen is a visual tribute to each serviceman or servicewoman killed in the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. As of February 2017, it includes servicemen and servicewomen killed in action in Desert Storm and Desert Shield.

Local bikers who escorted the Mideast Conflicts Wall of Honor were Bob and Cherie Mauer, Cliff Oleson, Henry Herbst, Bill and Sally Kolb, Sam Mataya and Fred Chaffer.
