Starfish Animal Rescue in Batavia, Geneva charity group holding event, silent auction to collect donations and raise funds

BATAVIA – Starfish Animal Rescue, a Batavia-based nonprofit that rescues dogs and puppies from kill shelters, is holding two events to collect donations and raise money to continue its mission of saving lives.

According to a news release, Souls Sisters Give, a charity group in Geneva, will host the events. The community can purchase items needed from Starfish’s wishlist and drop them off at Pal Joey’s Restaurant in Batavia on May 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. While there, guests can meet some Starfish alumni pups, foster pups waiting to be adopted and learn more about the organization while enjoying free cotton candy. Guests will also be entered into a prize raffle.

The community can also bid on items in a silent auction on the website Bidding Owl. Some of the prizes include a celebrity chef-hosted dinner for eight, collectible gaming items, pet portrait, kitchen gadgets and more. Go to this link to place a bid:

According to the release, animals arrive at the rescue, which is located on Bond Street, a few times each month. Volunteers feed, bathe and care for the animals before they are released to foster families. After several weeks of rest and adjusting, the pups are eligible for adoption. Dogs and puppies are placed all over Chicagoland.

All medical expenses and initial supplies are paid for with donations to Starfish Animal Rescue. The Starfish has helped the animals through chemical burns, broken bones, lyme disease, heartworm, abuse and other issues, the release stated.
