Learn how to raise backyard chickens with the Forest Preserve District of Kane County

GENEVA — The Forest Preserve District of Kane County is hosting a program to learn about raising backyard chickens.

According to a news release from the FPDKC, the “Learn from the Experts” Backyard Chickens 101 program is Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center, 3507 Kaneville Road, Geneva.

Chickens are smart and interesting animals that are fun to get to know and raise. Imagine having your own supply of brown, blue, olive and pink freshly laid eggs every day, the release stated.

Learn From the Experts programs are for ages 18 and above. Masks are required at all programs and group sizes will be limited. Advance registration is required. Registration fee is $10 per person. Call 630-444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register.

The programs are taught by experts in their respective fields and offer in-depth learning opportunities about the local ecology. The programs are offered through a partnership by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, St. Charles Park District and Geneva Park District, the release stated.
