Batavia High School Eco Club plants trees in honor of Arbor Day

BATAVIA – The Eco Club at Batavia High School held its first annual Tree Planting Ceremony in honor of Arbor Day on April 29 at the Main Street entrance to the school.

Club officers held a short ceremony and read a poem prior to the planting. Other guests included Scott Haines, superintendent of the city of Batavia Tree Commission, Kathy Montanari, administrative assistant, Renee Oakley, facility manager at Red Oaks Nature Center and Robb Cleave, volunteer coordinator at the Kane County Forest Preserve.
