North Aurora Woodman’s parking lot shooting victim in critical condition

NORTH AURORA – North Aurora police are investigating an incident where two people were shot late Tuesday afternoon in the Woodman’s Market parking lot, 151 Hansen Blvd., North Aurora, officials announced in a news release.

A teen boy was taken to an area hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his neck and the other was a man, listed in fair condition with a gunshot wound to his leg, the report stated.

Officers were initially called to Woodman’s Market at 5:23 p.m., for two gunshot victims.

After an initial on-scene investigation, officers determined that two males approached a gray sedan on foot and got in.

The sedan drove around the lot briefly before witnesses reported two to three “pop” sounds and then one of the males exited and limped away, the release stated.

The sedan rolled forward and two more popping sounds were heard.

The sedan struck the curb in the far northwest corner of the parking lot where it came to rest.

The other male got out of the vehicle and briefly tried to help the limping male before leaving him and fleeing northbound through a grassy field, the release stated.

A Good Samaritan rendered first aid to the limping man, 26, by placing a tourniquet on his leg, which had sustained a gunshot wound. Paramedics took him to an area hospital in fair condition.

The driver of the car, a teen boy age 17, suffered a gunshot wound to his neck and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, the release stated.

Officers located other two men, ages 19 and 27, in an apartment in the 1800 block of Oak Street who were both detained for questioning and transported to the North Aurora Police Department.

The 19 year old remains in custody at this time and the 27 year old has been released, the release stated.

Aurora police and Kane County Sheriff’s deputies assisted.

This incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
