St. Charles Twp. attorney charged with DUI in Geneva

Driver also charged with driving without headlights on at 2 a.m. on Randall Road

GENEVA – A St. Charles Township attorney, who was charged with drunken driving, was also cited for speeding and driving without headlights, according to Geneva police reports.

Kinza Khan, 36, of the 38W500 block of Lake Charlotte Court, St. Charles Township, was also charged April 23 with improper lane use and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle as it took four to five blocks for her to pull over, according to reports.

According to the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, Kahn is an attorney with Beyond Legal Aid in Chicago.

Police saw Khan’s 2017 white Toyota Highlander shortly after 2 a.m. on April 23 in the 1000 block of South Randall Road, Geneva, headed north without headlights on, speeding 67 miles an hour in a 45 mph zone and changing lanes unsafely, according to police reports and the officer’s sworn statement in court records.

Khan did not pull over for the police car until the 300 block of South Randall Road, according to the officer’s sworn statement in court records.

Khan had watery eyes, slurred speech, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her mouth area and she was swaying while speaking with the officer, according to his sworn statement.

Khan also refused to answer questions, perform field sobriety tests or give a breath sample, the report stated.

Khan is scheduled to appear in court May 12.
