St. Charles Twp. man charged with felony domestic battery after victim struck in head with rock

Sheriff: Victim was also kicked, beaten, strangled

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – The U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Task force aided Kane County deputies in a no-bond arrest warrant for a St. Charles Township man wanted for felony aggravated domestic battery, according to a news release.

Jeffrey J. Haugen, 29, of the 6N700 block of Park Place, St. Charles Township, was taken into custody in the 39W600 block of Caribou Trail, Campton Township, on March 5, the release stated.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to the residence in the 6N700 block of Park Place, St. Charles Township on Jan. 20 in response to a domestic battery incident that occurred on Jan. 18 and 19, the report stated.

The victim had been kicked, beaten strangled and struck in the head with a rock, sustaining physical injuries, the report stated.

Haugen is charged with two counts of felony domestic battery-strangulation and two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery, according to the release and court records

The most serious charges are the domestic battery-strangulation, both Class 1 felonies punishable by four to 15 years in prison and fines up to $25,000, or up to 48 months of probation, if convicted.

Haugen is currently being held in the Kane County jail on $150,000 bond. He would have to post $15,000 or 10% as bail in order to be released.

Haugen has a status hearing scheduled for Thursday.
