High school sports roundup for Thursday, April 15: Burlington Central freshman Michael Person strikes out 10 in Rockets’ win

BASEBALL

Burlington Central 7, Larkin 1

Burlington Central freshman pitcher Michael Person threw 10 strikeouts in four innings of work, allowing just one hit and no walks. Jack Gilroy muscled a three-run home run and Brady Gilroy had an RBI double.

St. Charles North 7, Jacobs 3

North Stars senior Nick DeMarco had a two-run triple and later came home on a balk in the third inning. Kevin White had a two-run single in the fourth inning. The North Stars scored another run on a balk and Luke Bolender had an RBI single for the North Stars.

Hampshire 8, Geneva 5

Geneva’s Aidan Sheehan pitched three innings of work, allowing two runs, one hit and had four strikeouts.

Vikings third baseman Owen Anderson knocked in three RBI, while Noah Zaccanti had one RBI.

SOFTBALL

St. Charles East 5, Schaumburg 2

Saints senior Maddie Rouse pitched seven full innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits with two walks. Rouse also had five strikeouts. Cienna Wilson had two RBIs and Chelsea Campagna had one for the Saints, who are 2-0 on the season.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Geneva d. Batavia 25-22, 25-23

Geneva’s Devynn Day had eight kills and three digs to lead the Vikings, while Madi Danielson and Anna Loberg each had five kills. Leah Davine had three kills. Lauren Benson and Avery Campise each had two kills.

Neuqua Valley 11, St. Charles North 3

North Stars junior Aidan Allamian had two goals, and senior Albert Buvary had one goal. Jay Shimon had eight saves for the North Stars.
