More than 160 new COVID-19 cases reported in Kane County Wednesday

No additional deaths reported

Illinois public officials on Wednesday reported 165 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and no new deaths.

Kane County has now seen 53,792 total cases of the virus and 745 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 77 consecutive days below 8%. The region’s positivity rate increased to 6.9%. Currently, 35% of ICU beds are available.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average increased to 7.6% and DuPage County’s increased to 6.6%.

Hospitalizations have increased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 3,790 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 28 additional deaths Wednesday. The IDPH received the results of 80,628 tests leading up to Wednesday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 4.1%.

Illinois now has seen 1,265,457 total cases of the virus, and 21,423 people have died.
