New COVID-19 cases drop again in Kane County Monday

Illinois public officials on Monday reported 48 new cases of COVID-19 in Kane County and one new death, a man in his 50s. The case count is a decrease of the 65 new cases reported Sunday.

Kane County has now seen 50,182 total cases of the virus and 707 people have died.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen 33 consecutive days under 8%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 4.2%. Currently, 33% of ICU beds are available.

The region has 71 consecutive days over the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability.

Within this region, Kane County’s seven-day positivity average is at 4.6%, and DuPage County is at 4.1%.

Hospitalizations have decreased 10 out of the past 10 days in this region.

The positivity rate is the percentage of people who test positive out of all the people tested in a given time period. Additional restrictions can be placed on any of the state’s 11 health regions if the region sustains an increase in its average positivity rate for seven days out of a 10-day period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 1,246 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and 34 additional deaths Monday. The IDPH received the results of 37,361 tests leading up to Monday afternoon.

According to the IDPH, the rolling seven-day positivity rate average in the state is 2.8%.

Illinois now has seen 1,175,655 total cases of the virus, and 20,303 people have died.
