La Salle-Peru High School announces DAR recipient

Senior Jordan Whaley chosen by the L-P faculty

La Salle-Peru Township High School senior Jordan Whaley was named the 2024-2025 Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Citizenship Award winner, Communication Director Matt Baker said in a Monday news release.

La Salle-Peru High School senior Jordan Whaley was named the 2024-2025 Daughters of the American Revolution Citizenship Award winner.

The award is presented to a senior based on the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism to an outstanding degree, according to an L-P news release. Whaley was chosen for this honor by the L-P faculty. Whaley is the daughter of Philip and Frances Whaley of Peru.

“Jordan is a compassionate leader whose steadfast dedication to improving the climate and culture of L-P has undoubtedly improved school experiences for both students and faculty,” L-P Counselor Andrea Eichelkraut said. “She is an exceptional young person who embodies many characteristics that others work a lifetime to obtain.”

Whaley is involved in many athletics and activities at volleyball, Renaissance, Student Council, Link Crew, Student Board, Harbor Homeroom, CAVS Day and Rotary.

As for her future plans, Whaley intends to study elementary education at Illinois State University.
