High school football: Week 6 results; recaps for every game

York 12, Glenbard West 10: Junior quarterback Matt Vezza completed 14 of 23 passes for 119 yards, and added 110 yards on the ground, and Max Hansmann kicked an 18-yard field goal with 55.1 seconds after a lightning delay, as unbeaten York beat Glenbard West 12-10 for its first win over the Hilltoppers since 2007.

Hinsdale Central 30, Downers Grove North 20: Thomas Skokna ran for three touchdowns, Hinsdale Central scored 16 straight points to pull away from a halftime tie and third-generation player JT Pyle and the Red Devils beat Downers Grove North 30-20 to retain the Old Oaken Bucket for the 14th straight season.

IC Catholic 29, Wheaton Academy 16: Malik Gray ran for a career-best 187 yards and scored two touchdowns, and Antonio Richardson keyed the IC Catholic Prep defense with two third-quarter sacks in the Knights’ key 29-16 Metro Suburban Blue win at Wheaton Academy.

Wheaton North 21, Glenbard North 20: Wheaton North turned away a Glenbard North two-point conversion with 1:24 left, holding on for a 21-20 win in the DuKane Conference.

St. Francis 49, Aurora Christian 27: Adam Criter’s spectacular 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was a highlight in a three-touchdown night and he accounted for 222 all-purpose yards before halftime in St. Francis’ 49-27 rout of Aurora Christian on Friday in the Metro Suburban Red.

Batavia 41, Wheaton Warrenville South 20: Tyler Sapit made up for the spring game he missed with Wheaton Warrenville South because of COVID, helping lead the Bulldogs past the Tigers 41-20. Jalen Buckley ran for three touchdowns for Batavia, which clinched its 10th straight playoff appearance.

Montini 28, Providence 3: The Broncos (3-3) blew open a close game with 21 points in the fourth quarter. Cole Teschner threw a TD pass to Donovan Olugbode, Josh Robinson ran in a TD and Jacob Velazquez had a 5-yard TD run. Earlier, Michael Carver scored on a 15-yard TD run.

Lemont 61, Bremen 22: Nate Wrublik, Al Kunikis and Sam Andreotti each scored two TDs for Lemont.
