Heard on the Street: pOpshelf opens in Bourbonnais, Nothing Bundt Cakes heading to Bradley

A new store specializing in home goods opened its doors this month, taking up the space formerly occupied by Party City.

Situated at 2060 Route 50, Bourbonnais, pOpshelf opened on March 1 and features an assortment of products for the home. The company is owned by Dollar General.

Alyssa Ditzler, lead associate of the Bourbonnais store, said the location has about eight employees.

Things since opening, she said, have “been great.”

“We’ve been pretty busy. A lot of people like it especially because we do balloons,” she said. “It’s just another little place in the community to get a little bit of everything in one place.”

pOpshelf has locations in 21 states, including 10 stores in Illinois. In total, there are 232 stores in the country.

The Bourbonnais store is seeking two part-time lead team members, one team member and one assistant team leader. To apply, go to popshelf.com.

“Thank you to the community for being so welcoming to us,” Ditzler said.

Hours for the Bourbonnais location are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. For more information, call 779-236-0451.
